The cylindrical roller bearing belongs to the separable bearing,which is easy to assemble and disassemble. According to the row number of rollers, the cylindrical roller bearings can be classified into single-row, double-row, four-row, and full-complement cylindrical roller bearings.
The cylindrical roller bearings can bear high radial loads and are applicable for high-acceleration and high-speed rotation cases.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing is one separable type bearing. Generally, a single-row cylindrical roller ring consists of four major components as follows: inner ring, outer ring, rollers, and cage. The rollers are typically guided by two ribs of bearing ring.
This kind of bearing is easy to assemble, disassemble and applicable for high-speed rotation cases. So, compared with a normal radial ball bearing with same size, the cylindrical roller bearing is more suitable to the condition which requires bearing higher radial load and higher impacting resistance.
Normally, it is not used to bear an axial load. It is required the angle between the axes of its inner and outer rings is slight, generally less than 4'. Profiling of the rollers and the raceway generatrix can reduce the inclination requirement somewhat.
The double-row cylindrical roller bearing is one separable type bearing and easy to assemble and disassemble.
The double-row cylindrical roller bearing has two optional structures: cylindrical bore and tapered bore(suffix K),and two optional designs: NNU and NN. The NN design has an inner ring with two ribs and an outer ring without ribs. The NNU design has an inner ring without ribs and an outer ring with two ribs.
The tapered bore structure can allow the radial clearance to be adjusted when the bearing is installed. The double-row cylindrical roller bearing allows a certain axial displacement between the shaft and bearing housing and can be used as a non-locating bearing.
The advantages of the double-row cylindrical roller bearings are high stiffness and high precision, so they are usually used as main shaft bearings of precision machine tools.
Four row cylindrical roller bearings are the one of the main bearings for rolling mills. They are compact structures and high stiffness, and can carry high radial loads but not axial load. Because of inner rings with no rids, inner and outer ring subassembly ( with full set of rollers and cage) can be mounted respectively. Cleaning inspecting and dismounting are very convenient.
Four row culindrical roller bearings are especially applied to rolling mills required high speed and precision, for example, wire mills, bar and shape mills, cold or hot sheet mills and cogging mills.Brass solid cages or pin-type cages are mainly used in four row cylindrical roller bearings.
The full complement cylindrical roller bearing has one or two raceways full of rollers and no cage, thus, it has a higher bearing capacity. Owing that no cage guides and spaces the rollers, the relative slide happens between rollers. So, compared with normal cylindrical roller bearings, it is mainly applicable to low-speed cases and usually produces loud noises.Its main optional structures include NCF (single-row) and NNCF (double-row).
NCF Design: single-row rollers, capable of bearing single direction axial load and acting as unidirectional locating bearing.
NNCF Design: double-row rollers, capable of bearing single direction axial load and acting as unidirectional locating bearing , applicable for low-speed and heavy load cases.
Open-type single-row and double-row full complement cylindrical roller bearings are mainly used to general mechanical equipment with low-speed and heavy-duty requirements. Close-type double-row full complement cylindrical roller bearings are mainly used for wire rope pulleys of cranes.
Backing bearing is a special cylindrical roller bearing. Multiple backing bearings are mounted on one roll. The external surface of each backing bearing is used as part of the rolling surface. So, it is required that the backing bearings shall have uniform cross sections. The precision requirements for their parts are very strict.
